Alloy Steel 52100 | UNS# G52986 is a high-carbon, chromium that contains low alloy steel. 52100 offers good machinability and good formability using conventional methods and is often found in the automotive and aircraft industry. Those applications may include aircraft parts, bearings, taps, punches, and similar uses.

Alloy Steel 52100, as known as AISI 52100, contains a high level of carbon and chromium. This alloy offers users good machinability, as well as forming through conventional methods. The hardening of Alloy Steel 52100 can be achieved by cold working, heating, and quenching. The automotive and aircraft industry use Alloy Steel 52100 for a number of different applications including:

To be sold as Alloy Steel 52100 must contain specific amounts of certain chemicals. This list includes:

Fe Balance:Cr 1.3-1.6%;C 0.98-1.1%;Mn 0.25-0.45%;Si 0.15-0.3%;S ≤ 0.0250;P ≤ 0.0250.
